Obituary

With heavy hearts, we remember and honor the life of Arturo A. Frescas, who was born on February 12, 1966, in Chihuahuah, Mexico, the son of Alfredo and Margarita (Dominguez) Frescas, and passed away peacefully at home in Rockford, Illinois, on July 1, 2026, surrounded by his family.

A proud graduate of Belvidere High School’s class of 1985, Arturo carried with him an infectious sense of humor and a spirit that sought out adventure in every corner of life. Friends and family alike knew him as the life of the party—his laughter echoing at every gathering, his outgoing personality drawing people together, and his adventurous nature inspiring those around him. He married the love of his life, Rachel Bernal on December 20, 1988, in Dixon, IL, and together they shared a love like no other and were blessed with 3 children.

For 12 dedicated years, Arturo contributed to Chrysler as an assembly line worker, embodying a strong work ethic and camaraderie with his colleagues. Later, he embarked on a new chapter at Mopar in Milwaukee, where he continued to make a mark as an order picker for three years. Through his work, he formed lasting bonds and earned respect for his commitment and integrity.

Outside of work, Arturo’s love for the outdoors illuminated every season and every day. He found peace and joy in fishing, hunting, and camping at the family property in the Wisconsin Dells. A true lover of nature, he took pride in planting flowers, transforming spaces into colorful havens. Arturo cherished travel, always seeking new horizons and experiences, and he delighted in tinkering and fixing things—never hesitating to lend a hand. His prized 1969 Mustang was both a passion and a source of pride, reflecting his appreciation for classic beauty and hard work.

Arturo’s heart was as big as his spirit. Many looked up to him as an older brother, a source of wisdom, laughter, and unwavering support. He was the person to share a joke, to ignite a room with his presence, or to offer steady, patient guidance. His love for the Dallas Cowboys sparked some of his most passionate Sunday afternoons.

As we gather to celebrate Arturo's life, we carry forward memories of his humor, his sense of adventure, and the warmth he so freely shared. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, generosity, and kindness—echoes that will resonate for years to come in all who knew him.

Left behind to honor him is his wife, Rachel; children, Alejandro, Arturo "Art" (Andrea), and Tatiana; grandchildren, Xavier, Damien, Giovanni, Miyeli, Mateo, and Ahnyel; siblings, Ricardo (Francisca), Patricia, Rosa, Sandra (Jaeson), Tony, and Veronica; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is greeted in Heaven by his parents, Alfredo and Margarita; sister, Maribel; and nephew, David Zambrano.

The family gives a heartfelt thank you to the Carbone Cancer Center, Serenity Hospice, and all of his friends who helped him during this time.

Family, friends, and all whose lives Arturo touched are invited to pay their respects and share their memories during a visitation on July 11, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory - Mulford, 1860 S Mulford Rd, Rockford, IL 61108. A funeral service will follow at the same location from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.

Art will be dearly missed, but his spirit remains ever present in the stories we tell, the laughter we share, and the love that endures.
