Obituary

Brenda Marie (Falzone) Phillip passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in her sleep on
December 14, 2025, at the age of 62. Brenda’s life was defined by compassion, loyalty, and an
endless capacity to love.

Born on December 5, 1963, in Rockford, IL to John and Kathy Falzone; Brenda was a devoted
wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She married the love of her life,
Dan Phillip, on April 7, 1990, and together they built a life rooted in family, hard work, and love.
Brenda was a woman of deep commitment and service. She devoted over 20 years working at
Cherry Bowl, where she also proudly coached youth bowling. Through her work at the lanes,
she worked closely with the Professional Women’s Bowling Association (PWBA), supporting the
sport she loved and helping inspire bowlers of all ages. Brenda shared her patience,
encouragement, and passion with countless young athletes and fellow bowling enthusiasts.
When her children were young, she became self-employed, providing cleaning services for
homes and businesses—always giving her best, just as she did in every role she held.
A proud and loving mother, Brenda’s greatest joy was her two children, John and Anna Phillip.
Her love only grew with the arrival of her cherished granddaughter, Aspen, who held a very
special place in her heart. If you knew Brenda, you knew that family came first—always. She
was the kind of woman who would drop everything to be there when someone needed her,
regardless of what she herself was facing.

Brenda generously volunteered her time for over 20 summers at Festa Italiana, giving back to
her community and heritage with the same warmth and dedication that defined her life. She was
an avid reader and a devoted fan of author Nora Roberts, rarely seen without a book in her
hand or tucked into her purse.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Kathleen Falzone, her father-in-law Jim
Phillip, and her nephew, Barry Falzone.

Brenda is survived by her beloved husband, Dan Phillip; her son, John (Elizabeth) Phillip; her
daughter, Anna Phillip; and her treasured granddaughter, Aspen Phillip. She is also survived by
her sister, Bonnie (Brian) Falzone-Capriola; her brother, Benny (Kerry) Falzone; her
mother-in-law, Kay Phillip; her brother-in-law, Ed (Amy) Phillip; her sisters-in-law, Marge Nania
and Mary Phillip; and ten nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and numerous
cousins, who will forever remember her love, kindness, and strength.

A visitation will be held on January 17th, 2026 from 11:00am-2:00pm. at Fitzgerald Funeral
Home: 1860 S. Mulford Rd Rockford IL, 61108, where family and friends are invited to gather,
share memories, and celebrate Brenda’s life. She will be deeply missed and lovingly
remembered always.
