Brent Douglas Schultz, 65, Rockford, passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2026, in his home of 28 years, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 27, 1961, in Waupun, WI, the son of Darrell and Marlene (Yach) Schultz. He married Liz Peterson in Lake Geneva, WI, on October 13, 1984.

Brent was fun. He had a way of making an ordinary day feel like something, and he brought it with him everywhere he went. Above all, he was a father — at every practice, every recital, every game, for all of it. His children didn't just have a dad who showed up. They had a best friend.

In recent years he answered to the title he loved most: "Funpa," to Camden, Olivia, Rowan, and Liam.

Brent was a member of Mauh-Nah-Tee-See Country Club, where he spent countless rounds with his friends and joined them on golf trips over the years. He was an avid cyclist who logged many long rides, and a lifelong Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers fan.

He earned his BS degree in Accounting from the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater and spent 31 years at Barber Colman Company, later Schneider Electric, retiring in 2020.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 42 years, Liz; his son, Logan (Kelsey) Schultz of Gilbert, AZ; his daughter, Hailey (Devin) Bitner of Rockford; his grandchildren, Camden and Olivia Schultz and Rowan and Liam Bitner; and his brother, Mark (Diana) Schultz. He was predeceased by two sons, Dustin Michael and Spenser Alexander Schultz, and his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at Spring Creek United Church of Christ, 4500 Spring Creek Road, with Reverend David Sheridan officiating. Entombment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. A visitation will be held from 4–7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S.
