Carl P. Rizzo, 96, Rockford, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2026. He was born on June 27, 1929, in Rockford IL, the son of Santo and Frances (Markese) Rizzo. He married the love of his life, Margaret L. (Mulé) Rizzo on February 27, 1954, in Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, where they both were parishioners for over 70 years. They remained married for 69 wonderful years until her passing on May 13, 2023. Carl was a member of Senior Holy Name Society of St. Anthony’s Church, something he was very proud of. As a parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua, he served as an usher. He was a kindhearted man, and family meant everything to him. He was the happiest with a baby on his lap. He loved watching westerns, wrestling, and playing Sudoku.
He is survived by his children Sandra (Steve) Kleekamp, Carol Rizzo, James (Sharon) Rizzo, and Christine Rizzo; his grandchildren Alison (Andrew) Garza, Justin Baker, Z Rizzo, Nolan Rizzo, Andrea (JJ) Skiver, Josh (Jaime) Kleekamp; his great grandchildren Bennett, Henry, Avram, Ella, Evelyn, Ava, Sofia, Jack, and Jonathan and several nieces and nephews; He is predeceased by his wife, Margaret; his infant son, Christopher Joseph; his granddaughter, Danielle Hoffmann; his infant great-grandson, Beckett Baker; and his brothers, Jim Rizzo and Santo (Junior) Rizzo.
A visitation will take place on Thursday, May 21, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1010 Ferguson St., Rockford IL, 61102.
