Carole L. Johnson, 82, lifelong Rockford resident, died on August 25, 2026 in Bickford House of Rockford. Born December 23, 1943, daughter of Roy William and Dorothy Lewis Johnson. Graduated from East High School in Rockford and received her bachelor’s degree from St. Olaf College. She was a long time music teacher in the Rockford School District, having started at Rolling Green School but spending most of her career at East High School. She was a true musician in talent and in her heart. She directed many musicals through the years and was responsible for introducing many, many students to music and generously helping them develop their talents. Carole loved her Himalayan cats, her home, of which she was very proud, and enjoyed entertaining. She also had a love for Mrs. Fisher’s , which she always enjoyed.

Survivors include her brother, Richard (Joan) Johnson; nieces, Cindi (Steve) Reed and Susan Nelson; great-nieces, Abigail Reed, Bailey (Ethan) Carlson and nephew, Donovan Reed. Predeceased by her parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Carole’s name to Bickford House of Rockford. The family was assisted by Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Send condolences and share memories at www.fitzgeraldfh.com.
