Cheryl Ann North's Obituary

Cheryl Ann North, 73, of Davis, IL, passed away on April 3, 2026. Born in Rockford, IL, on June 4, 1952, to Gordon and Vera (Carlson) Lindquist. She married the love of her life, Steven North, on September 14, 1974, and they soon after welcomed two children, Lindsay and Eric. Cheryl was full of life and always looked forward to an adventure. Her favorite pastimes were going out to dinner with her special friends, spa trips with her ‘Class of 1970’ girls, and assisting with hosting several class reunions throughout the years. She could even be found at the slot machines, where she and her friends would split the winnings. She was a Chicago sports fan, cheering on the Bears and Cubs, and later enjoyed watching NCAA Final Four Basketball in her living room with Steve. On a rainy day, she dedicated her time to piecing together puzzles, a growing collection of hers. When the weather was nice, she could be found gardening, riding around on her golf cart, taking her beloved dog Gabi to the dog park, and cruising the pontoon boat on Lake Summerset. Above all else, Cheryl’s greatest joys in life were her children and grandchildren, Richie, Jonathan, and Eliana; she talked about them any chance she had. She never missed a single football game, basketball game, or dance recital. She took them on shopping trips and was involved in their lives every chance she could. She was so proud of her children and grandchildren, and the memories they created will never be forgotten.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Steve; children, Lindsay (Rich Jr.) Gambini, Eric (Rebecca) North; grandchildren, Richie Gambini, Jonathan Gambini, Eliana Gambini; sister, Debbie (Stephen) Renne; mother-in-law, Gloria North; sisters-in-law, Sandy (Cary) Johnson, Rita North; brothers-in-law, Stan (Tammy) North, Stu (Salome) North, and numerous nieces and nephews. Cheryl will also be greatly missed by her Aussiedoodle, Gabi, who loved to cuddle up next to her and fall asleep on her lap. She is predeceased by her parents, Gordon (Vera) Lindquist, and brother-in-law, Scott North.

A celebration of life for Cheryl will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations in her name to Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary, 111 N. 1st St, Rockford, IL 61107. To send your condolences online and share memories, please visit www.fitzgeraldfh.com.
