David Jerry Solverson, 72, Rockford, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2026, in his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 7, 1954, in Viroqua, WI, the son of Kermit and Marjorie (Stilwell) Solverson. David was a graduate of Guilford High School, class of 1972. He married Pamela Hutchison on October 10, 1981, in Rockford. David worked as a carpenter and was a longtime member of Carpenters Local 792. He coached youth soccer through the AYSO for many years and volunteered at Patriots Gateway Center.
Survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Pam; his sons, Jon (Clara) of Lena, Eric (Bailey) of Waunakee, WI, and David of Rockford; his grandchildren, Addie, Rowan, Eliza, Douglas, Jacob, Emma, Bode, and Sanni Solverson; Bode and Sanni’s mother, Beka Fritz; his siblings, Steve (Maureen) Solverson, Alan (Char) Solverson, Charlie Solverson, Kathy (Steve) Johnson, Lisa (Paul) Glynn, and Crystal (Jeff) Taylor; along with many nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Pat (Mike) Bondick; mother-in-law, Blanche Hutchison. Predeceased by his parents, Kermit and Marjorie Solverson; Marjorie’s second husband, Cecil Parsons, sister-in-law, Patti Lautenschlager, father-in-law, John Hutchison and nephew, Nicholas Glynn.
David’s family would like to give special thanks to OSF St. Anthony Medical Center, their doctors and staff, especially Dr. Tewani, Dr. Madala, OSF Center for Cancer Care, and OSF Home and Palliative Care for their kindness and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in David’s honor to the Carpenters Local 792 Golden Hammer Award (checks payable to Carpenters Local 792, memo: Golden Hammer Award) or to the Northwestern Illinois Building Trades Blais Family Scholarship through the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 26, 2026, from 2:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford, with a time of sharing at 4:30 P.M. A private family burial will be held at a later time.
