Doris J. Herlugson, 92, Rockford died on Thursday, August 20, 2026, in her home at Morning Star Village. Born April 27, 1934, in Lake Forest, IL, daughter of Walter H. and Maline Gehrig Schultz. Graduated from Muldoon High School and St. Anthony Hospital School of Nursing. She married Richard Herlugson on April 21, 1956. Throughout her long career as a registered nurse, she was employed in the office of Dr. Fred Smith and the Northern Illinois Blood Bank. Doris took pride in her garden and grew the most beautiful flowers. She was always available to spend time babysitting her grandchildren and spoiled each of them. Doris also delighted in playing Bridge with her friends and co-workers from the Blood Bank and her time with the church support group ladies.

Survivors include her sons, Tom (Karen) Herlugson, Bill (Brenda) Herlugson, and John Herlugson; daughter Susan (Flint) Hollis; grandchildren, Sarah Herlugson, Sydney (Cameron) Miller, Samantha Herlugson, Karla (Larry) Krienke, Sharon (Larry) Valerius; great-grandchildren, Rose, Joseph, Andy, Lain, Elli, Dawsyn, Everleigh and sister-in-law, Lynn Schultz. Predeceased by her parents, husband, and brother, Walter Schultz.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2026, in St. Rita Catholic Church. A visitation starts at 10:00 a.m. at the church until time of the service.
