Emmilyn “Emmy” F. Miller, 86, passed away on September 24, 2026, one month shy of her 87th birthday. Born on October 24, 1939, in Rockford, the daughter of Ragnar and Greta

(Falth) Bergstrom. She married the love of her life, Roland “Ron” Miller in Rockford on

October 26, 1957.

Emmy was a woman of many talents and interests, filling her days with activity, creativity, and companionship. She loved to bowl and participated in several leagues. She enjoyed being part of the Birthday Club, where games of Bunco brought laughter and friendship. A great cook and baker, Emmy shared her giftsgenerously, making home and gatherings more welcoming through the meals and treats she prepared. Emmy found beauty in the world around her; she loved gardening, flowers and birds.

In the years before their retirement, Emmy worked alongside her husband at Lindman’s Carpet Manor, working as a sales assistant, where she was known for her dedication and friendly spirit.

Her hands were rarely still. Emmy enjoyed needlepoint, sewing, working puzzles, and

playing sudoku, pursuits that reflected skill, patience and ingenuity. For many years, she and Ron spent their winters in Naples, Florida, creating treasured memories together, and with family and friends.

Faith and service were important parts of Emmy’s life. She had been a member of

Broadway Covenant Church since 1972 and volunteered in the church kitchen, serving

others in a quiet and meaningful way. She also gave of herself as a den mother for Cub

Scouts, offering guidance, encouragement, and care to the children and families whose

lives she touched.

She is survived by her husband, Ron; her children, Kim (Dave) Lape, and Todd

(Jennifer) Miller; her grandchildren, Ryan Lape, Stacey (Mike) Parlapiano, Brandt

Miller, and Lynnea Miller; her great grandchildren, Isabella “Izzie” Parlapiano and Emma

Parlapiano along with many cherished nieces and nephews. She is preceded by her parents and her brothers, Robert Bergstrom, JackBergstrom, and Ralph Bergstrom.

Emmy will be remembered with love for putting family first, the care she gave to others, and the many simple joys she embraced so fully.

Visitation will be on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at 10 AM with a memorial service immediately following at 11 AM, taking place at Broadway Covenant Church, 3525 Broadway, Rockford, IL 61108.
