Frances Marie Nibbio, 93, of Rockford, IL passed away on April 14, 2026. Frances was born on July 17, 1932, in Rockford, IL the daughter to Matthew and Josephine (DeCorte) Nibbio. She attended Rockford West High School, graduating in 1950. Frances went on to work various jobs at Barber Colman and Rockwell International. She was Catholic and her faith was very important to her, as well as her Italian heritage. Frances was known for Italian cooking and baking, from her pasta, meatballs, and cookies she was meticulous in her preparation. More importantly, her food brought her family and friends together, which Frances cherished more than anything. She was a caring person and was a caregiver to family members and friends over the years. She enjoyed grocery shopping, often going every day. She loved her cars and the independence they brought to her. Frances will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.

Frances is survived by her sisters-in-law, Patricia Nibbio and Lucille Nibbio, numerous nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, and friends. She is predeceased by her parents, Matthew and Josephine; siblings, Sam (Amelia) Nibbio, Eleanor (Frank J.) Rotello, Martha Nibbio, Nick Nibbio, and Vince Nibbio, nephew Vito J. Rotello, and niece Elizabeth Melfi.

The family would like to thank all of the various caregivers that provided professional and loving care of Frances over the last several years. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2400 Bell Ave, Rockford, IL 61103. Visitation will be from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Frances’ name to Poor Clare Colettine Nuns of Rockford, IL, 2111 S Main St, Rockford, IL 61102.
