Georgina (Geanie) LaLoggia Caywood
Surrounded by her family, Geanie, 92, died peacefully in her home on June 19, 2026. Born on January 20, 1934, to Vito and Virginia (Fabiano) Mandella, Geanie was a lifelong Rockford resident. She graduated from West High School and Rockford Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She married Angelo LaLoggia in 1956, sharing 31 years devoted to each other, their faith, and their family. In 1998, she married Keith Caywood, and they spent 12 years together enjoying their retirement.
Geanie modeled values of sacrifice, service, and love to everyone who knew her. She cherished her vocation as a nurse and devoted her 44-year career to Rockford Memorial Hospital and Rockford Clinic. She loved reading, playing bridge, attending her kids’ and grandkids’ sporting events, and spending time with her family and friends. She belonged to the St. Anthony Altar and Rosary Society, was an active parishioner of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, and was a member of the Ladies of St. Bernadette group.
She was preceded in death by her son Vito Paul LaLoggia, husband Angelo LaLoggia, husband Keith Caywood, son-in-law Jim Day, and step son-in-law Bill Wessel.
Geanie’s generous spirit, caring nature, family meals, and Italian cookies will be missed by all, especially her family, including her children Jeanine (Pat) Williams, Michael S. (Mary) LaLoggia, Virginia (Kerry) Burd, Cindy Day, Lisa (Mike) St. John, Jennifer (Brian) Maier, stepchildren Larry Caywood, Sherry Wessel, Laurie (Brad) Claussen, and Lisa (Bruce) Keating, sister JoAnn Mandella, 27 grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren and step-great grandchildren, and many friends, relatives, and neighbors.
