Harold J.
Gibson
February 3, 1924 – January 25, 2026
Harold J. Gibson, 101, passed away on January 25, 2026. He was born on February 3, 1924, in Rockford, the son of Harold and Marjorie (Grant) Gibson. He married the love of his life, Mary J. Bartholomew and together they had a wonderful 65 years of marriage before her passing on March 30, 2021. Harold worked in Sales and Repair for Remington Rand and Fishers Office Equipment before his retirement in 1988. He served proudly in the United States Army during World War II from 1941 – 1945, and was a medical assistant based in California. He was a member of Aldersgate Church and the YMCA Men’s Club. Harold grew up on a farm outside of White Rock which led to his love of being outdoors, which he proudly spent gardening his tomato plants and taking care of his well-manicured lawn. He enjoyed watching sports, especially baseball, golf, and football. He routinely played pool at Wesley Willows with his boys. Harold was a sweet, loving, and kind husband, dad, grandfather, and friend.
He is survived by his stepdaughter, Mary Judith (Thomas) McWhinnie of Seattle, Washington; his grandchildren, Molly (Russ Stevenson) McWhinnie, Shannon Lee, Richard Winquist, and Thomas Winquist; and 2 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents, and wife, Mary.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial will take place in Spring 2026 at Whiterock Cemetery next to his wife, Mary. Please share memories and condolences online at www.fitzgeraldfh.com.
