John Adam Ciburk, Sr. of Rockford, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, March 18th at the age of 97 years. Beloved husband of Mary Jane (Learmont), son of the late Mary and Charles P. Ciburk. John was proud to be 100% Lithuanian and first generation as well.
Born on July 30, 1928, John married the love of his life, Mary Jane Learmont in St. Louis on October 22, 1960-this despite her baseball commitment to the Chicago Cubs. Besides Mary Jane, John is survived by his children: Chris Anne Donaldson (Keith), Mary Jo Ciburk (Scott Babcock), John Jr. (Carol), Cathy Ciburk, Teri Swick (Jerry), grandchildren: Cheryl Thatch (Jeremy), Joshua, Calvin (Jen), Javada, Brittni, Rachel, Jessica and great grandchildren: Braydin, Makayla, and Jaydin, and beloved Uncle, Great-Uncle and Great-Great Uncle. John valued his family and truly loved each and every member holding them close in his heart and prayers.
Predeceased by his parents, siblings, Mary Ann Saporito, Christine Magdalen Bussell, and Alfred Ciburk.
John loved his religion, his birthplace St. Louis, golf, bird feeders and had the eye of an artist. He was especially proud of his military service to his country during the Korean war. John flew forty-three missions over Korea as a flight engineer and mechanic in the Air Force and believed that every person who serves, regardless of their assignment, is a hero.
