John Patrick Paladino, born March 17, 1942, in Chicago, IL, and died June 6, 2026, lived a life marked by devotion to his family, faith, profession, and community.
After growing up in Wheaton, IL, John attended Lewis University from 1961 to 1965, earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. He went on to build a distinguished career spanning more than 40 years. He began at Sola Electric (1965–1967), followed by Allis-Chalmers (1967–1973), and then Amerock (1973–1990), where he dedicated many years of service. He continued his work at Clarcor (1990–2005) and concluded his career at Rockford Process Control (2005–2006). In retirement, his “fun job” was as a cashier at Sandy Hollow Golf Course.
On February 4, 1967, John married the love of his life, Marilyn LeFebve. Shortly after, they moved to LaPorte, IN, and lived there for six years, where their three daughters were born. Relocating to Rockford, IL, in 1973, they built a strong, faith-centered marriage and raised their three beloved daughters, Lisa (Tony) DiNovo, Lori (Pat) Pipitone, and Leslie (Frank) Haney—proudly known as his “three Hoosier daughters.” He adored his eight grandchildren: Sam and Isabella DiNovo; AJ, Hannah, and Ryan Pipitone; and Leah, Zach, and Frankie Haney.
He is survived by his sister Pat (Mike) Engelhardt, brother Don (Sue) Paladino, sister Fran (Mike) Murphy, brother-in-law Bill LeFebve, many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Dominic and Frances Paladino, in-laws Harold and Dorothy LeFebve, brother Nick Paladino, and sister-in-law Jean Paladino.
John’s life was defined not only by his professional accomplishments but also by his extraordinary commitment to service and leadership. He was actively involved in United Cerebral Palsy and Catholic Charities, giving his time and talents to support those in need. Within his profession, he served as President of Management Accountants and President of Financial Executives, demonstrating his leadership and dedication to his field.
A devoted member of Holy Family Catholic Church, John gave generously of his time for decades. He served as an usher for 50 years, was a member of the Holy Family Financial Council, and served as President of the Holy Family Home and School Association. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and his quiet service made a lasting impact on his parish community.
John also gave his time to his passions and the broader community. He served for 10 years with the Chicago District Golf Association as a Rules of Golf official and course reviewer. In addition, he was a dedicated member of the Northwestern University football sideline chain gang for 45 years, forming lasting friendships and contributing to the game he loved.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics and Northern Illinois Hospice for the exceptional care, comfort, and support they provided throughout John’s journey. The family would also like to thank their friends and family for their unwavering support, kindness, and prayers throughout his illness.
John will be remembered for his integrity, humility, and unwavering dedication to his family and community. His legacy lives on through his beloved family and all those whose lives he touched through his service and kindness.
