Joyce E. Jacobi (Mandeville), 84, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2026, in her hometown of Rockford. She was born on August 29, 1941, the daughter of Charles R. and Lucille B. (Milhaven) Mandeville. She married the love of her life, Michael “Mike” Jacobi on May 18, 1963, at the Cathedral of St. Peter where they remained married for 63 years. She was a proud graduate of West High School, class of 1960.
Her first job was at Kroger during her high school years. She later worked at National Tea and A&P. Her compassionate nature found its full expression when she worked as a teacher's aid for the preschool at the Cathedral of St. Peter. Yet, most dear to Joyce’s heart was the role she cherished above all: homemaker.
Outside of her home, Joyce found delight in the simple pleasures of life. An avid gardener, her hands nurturing flowers and plants that flourished under her attentive care. She relished the challenge of puzzles and card games, being considered a card shark. Joyce’s eye for value made her a skillful bargain shopper, always eager to find hidden treasures and pass along her discoveries with a smile.
Joyce’s life was one marked by treasured relationships. She is survived by her beloved husband, Michael Jacobi. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Barbara J. (Wade D.) Clark; her sons, Mark (Amy E.) Jacobi and Brian M. Jacobi; and her grandchildren, William (Jaci) Clark, Megan (Sean) Barfield, Trent Clark, Austin (Taylor) Jacobi, and Brynn Jacobi; and her great-grandson, Chase Jacobi, each of whom brought immeasurable joy to her life and carry forward her legacy of kindness and grace. Joyce’s presence enriched the lives of her siblings as well: her sisters, Judy (Kenneth) Bodey; her brother-in-law, Michael Manson, her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Martha (Tom) Owan, who shared lifelong bonds of support, laughter, and affectionate memories.
Joyce now rejoins her dear parents, Charles R. and Lucille B. (Milhaven) Mandeville, her siblings, William R. (Ann) Mandeville, Jean Manson, and sister-in-law Kathleen Drury in eternal rest—a reunion assuredly filled with peace and love.
A special thank you to the staff of Anam Glen and Northern Illinois Hospice for their loving support and care given to Joyce and her family, especially during her final days.
