Lila Stinson, 89, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of faith, family, and a life well lived.
Lila was born in 1936 in Mount Sterling and graduated from Brown County High School. In 1953, she married the love of her life, Verlin Stinson. Together they built a life centered on family, hard work, and community.
She later made her home in Rockford, Illinois where she worked at Grunos Jewelry, and co-owned Beads & Reeds. Lila had a creative spirit and found joy in basket weaving, cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals, attending church, and her passionate support for Donald Trump.
Lila was preceded in death by her parents, Rollie and Helen, her beloved husband, Verlin, and her grandson, David.
She is survived by her children, Loni (Rick) and Brad (Susan). She was a proud grandmother to Rob (Brooke), Samantha, and Cody (Karen), and a deeply devoted great-grandmother to Joslynn, Jack, Max, Dalton, Evelyn, Eden, Jameson, Norah, Layla, Nellie, Nova, Charlotte, and Emmett. She also leaves behind her special caregiver, Roseann, whose kindness and support meant so much to her and the family.
Lila will be remembered for her steady faith, her strong opinions, her creative hands, and the deep love she had for her family. Her presence will be greatly missed and forever cherished.
A Celebration of Life will be held on February 15 at City First Church Chapel, Rockford, Illinois. Visitation 2:00-3:00pm, Celebration service at 3:00pm. Donations for David’s Closet & Rockford Rescue Mission.
