With great sorrow and loving remembrance, we share the passing of Maria Santos Garcia. Maria was born on April 8, 1963, and departed from us on August 10, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of devotion, resilience, and unconditional love. She was born in Alice, Texas, the daughter of Guadalupe Gonzales Garcia and Juanita Escamilla Garcia. Maria embodied the truest meaning of family. She loved her family more than anything and made many sacrifices to ensure their happiness and wellbeing. Maria was known for her selflessness—always putting others before herself— and for her unyielding strength. Maria was a force: short in stature, yet mighty in presence. A pillar whose love and a sense of responsibility nurtured those around her. Caring for family and friends was her life's joy, and she excelled in the roles of confidant, and nurturer, earning recognition by all who knew her as the greatest and most loving mother. A woman of delight, Maria found happiness in dancing, swept away by the rhythms that brought lightness to her heart. She cherished romance novels, immersing herself in worlds filled with hope and love, and her home was often filled with the music she adored. These passions, both great and small, colored her days and provided warmth to everyone lucky enough to share them with her. Maria went through many trials, a stroke, diabetes, dialysis, cancer, chemotherapy. Yet throughout all her sickness she always kept a positive attitude always believing there was a light at the end of each trial. That this or that sickness would pass. With all the uncertainties and her disabilities She believed in God..She never gave up..even while sick she would tend to the needs of those who were close & that surrounded her. She never gave up believing that others would return to her. She was very tired, but, believed something better was waiting just... around the corner and there was. God called her by her name...... Maria is survived by her parents, Guadalupe and Juanita; her children: Daniel Gabriel Garcia (Daniel was Maria's caregiver), Miquel A.Garcia, and Angelique Marie Garcia; her six grandchildren; Maria's siblings, Guadalupe Escamilla Garcia Jr., Leandro Antonio (Victoria) Garcia, Ema Evangelina Garcia (Luis Paredes) and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded by her grandparents, Santos Balderas Fuentes Escamilla & Crescencio Cruz Escamilla, Dora Resendez Gonzáles Garcia and Marcos Lamb Garcia; and her special nephew, Guadalupe Ricardo García III (Wally Pelón). Though her physical presence has left us, the fullness of Maria’s spirit remains—a melody in the air, a well-worn novel on the nightstand, the joyous memory of shared dances and quiet evenings. She taught those around her not just to survive, but to love fiercely, and to celebrate what is most important: each other.
