Marie J. (Boggio) Barkho, 71, of Cherry Valley, IL, passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2026, in Elk Grove Village, IL. She was born on September 3, 1954, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Joseph and Violet (Perri) Boggio. She married her husband, Elias “Elie” Barkho, on August 22, 1992, and they remained married for 33 years. Marie dedicated over 40 years of her life as a registered respiratory therapist before retiring, a career she was proud of and deeply committed to. She loved playing bingo, which was how she met her husband, Elie. She had a fondness for Mexican food, enjoyed caring for her plants, and adored her cats. She often spent her time relaxing with a smoke and spending time with her husband, whether they were fishing together or visiting the casino. Marie and Elie shared a love of traveling and taking road trips, visiting over 40 states together and making many trips to Las Vegas over the years. Marie enjoyed the simple things in life and treasured time with those she loved.

Marie is survived by her husband, Elias; their two cats, Patty and Peanut; her brothers, Robert (Debbie), William (Elizabeth), and Joseph H. (Christina); her nieces, Jennifer and Amy, and their families; her nephew, Brian, and his family; and her stepmother, Carmen; as well as numerous Barkho in-laws, nieces, nephews, and their families. Marie is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Violet Boggio; her parents-in-law, Jack and Laure Barkho; her sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Boggio and Hoda Baumgartner; and her nephew, Mikey Mercado.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at10:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, 402 Church St, Belvidere, IL 61008. The burial will conclude in Belvidere Cemetery, 1121 N Main St, Belvidere, IL 61008.
