Patrick D. Cal, 81, a dedicated father and grandfather, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2026, in Rockford. He was born on November 11, 1944, in Rockford, IL, the son of Mario and Lucille (Ditto) Cal.
Patrick graduated from Boylan High School before earning his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Rockford College. After this, he had a long career as a teacher of history and civics at Harlem High School. Additionally, Pat was a broker, managing broker, instructor, developer of real estate for many years prior to and following his retirement from teaching high school, as well as a founding member of Keller Williams – Rockford.
History, the holidays, basketball, and theatre were among some of Patrick’s favorite things. Christmastime, in particular, was something Pat looked forward to year-round; he showed his love for those closest to him through gift-giving. More than anything, Pat was passionate about family; he was a caring father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his sons, Michael (Charon) Cal and Mark (Kim Meyers) Cal; his grandchildren, Adrian Cal, Amanda Cal, and Myles Halberstadt; and his great-granddaughter, Andie Davis. He is preceded by his parents, Mario and Lucille, his brother, Maro, and his daughter, Amy Halberstadt.
A visitation will take place on Friday, April 17, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 12:00 noon. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S.
