Robert “Bob” C. Carr, 89, of Rockford, passed away at his home on August 18, 2026. He was born on November 17, 1936, the son of Robert Carr and Bernice (Rude) Carr in Ottawa, Illinois. Bob married Alta (Felton) Carr on April 30, 1960, in Sedalia, Missouri.

Bob served his country honorably in the Air Force, a defining period that shaped his strong sense of duty and commitment. Those closest to him knew Bob as a quiet, particular man whose heart was ever open to those he loved. His devotion to family and friends ran deep, and the strength of these bonds was evident in every aspect of his life.

A lover of life’s simple joys, Bob cherished family get-togethers and annual vacations, with the trip to Lake Geneva holding a special place in his heart. He found peace and pleasure surrounded by animals, and his love for music—especially the songs of Neil Diamond—brought him countless moments of happiness. An avid cyclist, Bob enjoyed many long rides, embracing the freedom and reflection the activity afforded him.

Perhaps most of all, Bob treasured time spent with his grandchildren, delighting in the laughter, stories, and comfort their company brought. Whether relaxing quietly or sharing in an animated family celebration, his presence had a way of making every moment feel extraordinary.

Bob is survived by the love of his life, Alta; his children, Cindy Jensen (Chris), Christine Thomas (Doug); grandchildren, Nadia Jensen, Donovan Jensen, Cameron (Randi) Thomas, and Kayla Thomas. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Bernice.
