Obituary

Ronald L. Blomquist, 80, of Rockford, IL passed away peacefully on Monday, May 4, 2026. He was born in Monroe, WI, to Glenn and Evelyn (Erickson) Blomquist on July 13, 1945 and spent his early years in the Rockford area, eventually graduating from Rockford West High School in 1963.

Upon graduation from University of Illinois in 1968, he went on to have a long and fulfilling career in the fields of accounting and finance across a number of businesses in the Rockford area. Ron was always a trusted colleague and showed utmost dedication to his craft.

Ron was a very proud father and grandfather. He never passed up the opportunity for a game of cards or dice with his family and friends, entertaining all with his playful wise cracks. He loved an afternoon spent outside with a barbecue, yard games, and debates about his favorites—the Illini and Green Bay Packers. Above all else, Ron savored the time he spent alongside his wife Nancy, with whom he enjoyed travel, creating holiday traditions for their loved ones, and finding beauty in the everyday moments with one another. Ron will be remembered for his gentle humility and generosity to those around him.

He is survived by and will be greatly missed by his wife, Nancy; children, Dan (Rafael) McNames, Kyle (Annie) Blomquist, Amanda Bergman; grandchildren, Emma Blomquist, Alice Blomquist, Piper Chemello, Paul Blomquist, Ellee Blomquist, Tommy Blomquist; and sister, Sandra Compton. He is predeceased by his parents, Glenn and Evelyn; brother, Randy Blomquist; and son, Brian Blomquist.

A memorial service for Ron will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Mt Olive Lutheran Church, 2001 N. Alpine Rd, Rockford, IL 61107.
