Ronald Lee Workman 77 years old of Rockford, Illinois was taken by the Lord to his eternal home on August 18, 2026. He was born on June 22, 1949, in Cleveland, Ohio and adopted and raised by William and Leona Workman of Lorain, Ohio.

Ron’s Mom and Dad felt he received a gift of singing from the Lord so they sent him to private voice lessons as a child. Ron had the lead in “Oklahoma” and “My Fair Lady” as well as many other school plays. After high school Ron was given a full scholarship to Oberlin Conservatory of Music in Oberlin, Ohio. After a while, Ron decided to use his gift of singing for the Lord and changed his career.

Ron earned three advanced degrees: an associate’s degree in mechanical engineering technology from Lorain County Community College in Elyria, Ohio; a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri and an executive master’s degree in business management also from Rockhurst University.

Ron went on to serve in the industrial construction industry for 40 years. In Lorain, Ohio Ron worked for TRW Nelson as a service technician before moving to Kansas City to work in various management positions for the Geo. P. Reintjes Co., Inc. He also worked for General Electric Co., Welding Services Inc. in Norcross, GA and Aquilex to complete his career.

Ron’s greatest moment came when he turned away from the world and accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior serving Him in many different capacities for the rest of his life. Ron served in ministry at St. John’s Methodist church in Ohio as a church board member. Ron moved to Olathe, Kansas where he served at Central Church of the Nazarene in Lenexa KS singing in the church choir, as a soloist and the lead in church plays. He also served as a Sunday School teacher, an usher and a greeter.

At Gracepointe Church of the Nazarene in Loganville, Georgia, Ron served his Lord as a church board member, Sunday School coordinator, head usher, a member of the church maintenance team and part of the design team who created the church prayer garden. The garden was where congregants bought bricks in honor or in memory of loved ones. Ron and the team placed them in the prayer garden in the form of a cross surrounded by beautiful landscape and a fountain. Designing and creating the garden was one of Ron’s greatest joys for the members.

Ron’s desire was to always help others. He formed a small group of handymen from the church to help widows and widowers maintain their homes fixing anything that didn’t work. He called this ministry “We Care”. He also volunteered and sacrificed hours as the president of the Glen at Simonton HOA. He wanted to make our neighborhood the best place to live in Lawrenceville Georgia and he did. Home values skyrocketed because of his insistence that owners maintain their properties following the bylaws and covenants. He wanted to help others enjoy where they were living with “Get To Know Your Neighbors” social events, too.

Ron is survived by his loving wife Jan; his son Grant and his wife Dawn, their children Jarrod, Ryan and Braylen of Olathe, KS; his daughter Kim of Olathe KS; his stepdaughter Michelle, her husband Brian, their daughter Abbie of South Beloit IL and their daughter Janelle of West Branch IA (her fiance Nathan Johnson); Ron’s brother Ken of Lorain Ohio; his sister Brenda and husband Rick of Sebring FL; his nephew Bill Hollingsworth of Sebring FL; his niece Lori Garrett and husband Jaime, their children Ellie and August of Venice, Fl; his niece Paula Melendez and husband Eric, their children Brionna, Eric Jr., Sarah and Ava of Lorain Ohio; sisters in law Susan Amon and husband Mike of Pine Mountain Club CA and Peg Colburn and husband Jim of Fort Collins CO; his nephew Tyler Colburn and wife Rachel and children Sawyer, Beckham, Tristan and Clara of Timnath CO and step mother Nancy Amon of San Diego CA.

Ron loved his wife, family and friends. Ron loved his Lord and lived to serve Him and to bring others to know Him better. Ron will be truly missed by all of his family and friends. We believe he is now able to sing again and worship his Lord in song. Thank you for loving him making his life richer and more fulfilled.
