Roy W. Fiorello III, 42, of Rockford, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2026, in Rockford. He was born to Barbara and Roy Fiorello Jr. on July 24, 1983, in Rockford, IL.
Growing up, Roy loved sports. He played organized soccer, Little League baseball, and basketball for St. Rita’s into his teens. He continued golfing and playing tennis in high school. When he wasn’t playing sports, he was running around outside, playing Nintendo, or having slam-dunk contests with his friends.
An alumnus of Boylan Central Catholic High School, Roy continued his academic journey at Bradley University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Advertising. During his college years, he was an active member of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity, where he forged lifelong friendships and left a lasting impact on those who knew him.
Roy worked for Crossmark Retail Merchandising for the past three years. He also spent many summers working alongside his relatives in the family concession trailer, Pizza on Earth. This venture not only highlighted his work ethic but also his commitment to sustaining the familial bonds that were central to his life.
Roy was a man of great character, known for his excellent sense of humor and pride in his appearance. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family, creating memories filled with laughter and warmth. Lighting fireworks on the Fourth of July, swimming with his cousins, engaging in spirited family game nights, and savoring his mother’s home-cooked meals were cherished traditions that he held close to his heart.
His interests were as diverse as they were enriching. Roy was an avid lover of all types of music, finding solace and joy in melodies that spoke to his soul. He enjoyed golfing and fishing, activities that allowed him to connect with nature and unwind. His fondness for going on long walks and drives illustrated his appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. A collector at heart, Roy amassed an impressive collection of geodes, rocks, crystals, and sports cards—each piece a testament to his inquisitive spirit and passion for discovery. He was also fond of flavored coffee, a small indulgence that added delight to his daily routine.
Roy’s presence was a beacon of love and humor for those fortunate enough to know him. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will remember him for his unwavering affection, vibrant personality, and the countless moments of joy he inspired.
He is survived by his parents, Barbara and Roy Fiorello; his sister, Lisa (Jim) Thomson; his aunts and uncles, Rosalie (Bill) Krall, Kathy Park, Mark Park, Carolyn (Patrick) Wright, Nancy (Fred) Woywod, Sally (Jerry) Guy, Sandra (Ivan) Phillips, Dave (Dorothy) Stackowicz, and Paul (Kathi) Stackowicz; his special cousin and pizza mentor, Frank Fertitta; his cousins, Bill, John, Tom, Christine, Jenny, Hillary, Eric, Lauren, Elizabeth, James, Nicolas, Amelia, Ava, Jaxon, and Beckett; and many other friends and family. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, William Linsky, Ella Linsky Stackowicz, John Stackowicz, and Frances and Roy Fiorello Sr.
