Susan McCarthy, 73, of Rockford, passed away May 22, 2026. Born in Centralia, IL to Harold E. and Betty A. (Greear) Womble on August 4, 1952. Susan attended St. Rita Catholic Church. She loved spending time with her kids and grandchildren. She enjoyed and looked forward to baking for family gatherings and holidays. Lastly, she was very enthusiastic and talented with creating flower arrangements for family weddings.

She is survived by her bonus daughter, Dana (Ryan) Meads; son, Adam McCarthy; grandchildren, Braylon McCarthy, Josie McCarthy; sister, Jeanne (Chuck) Shepherd; brother, Corey (Linda) Stevens; nephew, Kevin (Natalie) Shepherd; nieces, Kellee (Steve) Spangle, Kari (Kevin) Holman and Kori Lynne Stevens; great-nieces and nephews, Sydney Shepherd, Blake Shepherd, Alyssa Spangle, Ainsley Spangle, Lexi Holman and Logan Holman. She is predeceased by her parents and son, Brenton McCarthy.
