Teresa J. Heinkel

Teresa Jean Heinkel, age 65, passed away unexpectedly in Green Bay, WI on Saturday, June 13, 2026.

Teresa was born in Waterloo, Iowa on August 21, 1960, the daughter of Walter and Bernice (Belcher) Johnson. She graduated from Oelwein High School in Iowa, Class of 1978. Teresa worked numerous positions in manufacturing, including engineering, for many years.

She was united in marriage with Charles “Chuck” M. Heinkel on October 30, 1999, at Fischer Chapel in Rockford, Illinois.

Teresa enjoyed spending her time using her talents as a seamstress, crafting, traveling and most of all, spending time with her family, especially her dear grandchildren.

Surviving relatives include her husband, Charles “Chuck” Heinkel; her children, Kimberly Sewell (Matt) of Pecatonica, IL and Jessica (Josh) Smith of Waterloo, IA; grandchildren, Trent Swanson, Adreanna Smith, Madison Swanson, Charlee and Corbin Smith; great-grandchildren, Arie, Freddie and Kia; siblings, Linda Ann (Marlin) Stedman, Lester (Vicki) Johnson and Dale (Francesca) Johnson. Teresa is predeceased by her parents, Walter and Bernice (Belcher) Johnson and a brother, Wesley Johnson.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford, IL 61108. Private family services will be held following the visitation. Burial of cremated remains at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Teresa’s name to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
