Terrance “Terry” Raymond Bennett, 78, of Rockford, passed away on March 16, 2026. He was born on May 18, 1947, in Rockford, the son of Hubert and Mary (Iverson) Bennett. Terry graduated from Boylan High School and then proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He married Carolyn Bielefeldt on May 15, 1971, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church. He worked at AT&T as an installer and a supervisor for Lucent Technologies.

Terry is a longtime member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. He enjoyed photography, woodworking, traveling, and electronics.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carolyn; children, Kim (Chris) Borota and Greg Bennett; grandchildren, Catelyn (Dave) Devlieger, Paige (Dereck) Avery, Haylea Bennett, Addisyn Borota, and Breanna Borota; 4 great grandchildren, Finnley, Isabella, William, and Avayah; brothers, Steve Bennett and Dave (Debbie) Bennett; sister, Paula Olson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents; sisters, Kathy Gray and Mary Ann Risland; and brother, Tom Bennett.

A Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2400 N. Bell Avenue, Rockford, IL 61103. A night before visitation will be on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, from 4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 3910 N. Rockton Avenue Rockford, IL 61103. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Bernadette Catholic Church.
