Obituary

Terry L. Brechler, of Cherry Valley, Illinois, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2026, at the age of 82. Terry was born August 9, 1944 to Hermie and Marilyn Brechler. He graduated Fennimore High School in 1962 before continuing his education at UW-Platteville. He was a longtime resident of the Rockford and Cherry Valley  area, where he worked as an industrial engineer and he built a life centered around his family and the people he loved. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his time spent tinkering at his workbench in the garage, his passion for books, go-karting, and golf. One thing that he looked forward to was his walks around the Baumann Park lake with his grandchildren. Terry was the beloved husband of Ann Brechler, with whom he shared 63 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they shared many adventures, cherished memories, and beautiful years. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who treasured the time he spent with his family.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey P. Brechler; his parents; and his brothers, Tim and Jerry. Terry is survived by his wife, Ann; his daughter, Pamela (Jerry) Bertrand; his grandchildren, Dustin (Maggie) Wilson, Melissa (Ben) Joniaux, Rachel Brechler (fiancé Josh Hancock) and Sarah (Jared) Lemens; and his great-grandchildren, Lucy and Ronnie Joniaux, and Avery Wilson. He is survived by his siblings, Merry Cooley and Tom (Diane) Brechler; sister-in-law Mary (Allen) Campbell and his many nieces and nephews.

Throughout his life, Terry created lasting memories with family and friends. His peaceful presence, stories, wisdom, and the love he shared with those around him will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
