Alex Frank Rotello

Alex Frank Rotello, 97, of Rockford, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2013. Born April 20, 1916 in Rockford. He was the 11th child of 13 children born to Mary (Pumilia) and Joseph Rotello. Alex was proud of his Italian heritage and enjoyed talking about his large family and growing up in south Rockford where he attended St. Anthony’s School. On February 2, 1936, he and Evelyn Kent married. She preceded him in death on December 28, 2007. Alex was a heavy equipment operator for many years and ran his own excavating company. Together he and Evelyn owned and operated a Laundromat in the 1960’s. He is survived by his daughter, Sandra (John) Cox of Stillman Valley; son, Richard (Joyce) Rotello of Rockford; grandchildren, John Cox, Jana (Jay) Krause, Jeff (Lori) Cox, Rich (Tish) Rotello, Regun Rotello, Matt and Paul (Anna) Lask, Robert McIntire; great-grandchildren, Jared and Jeff Cialkowski, Alex and Adam Cox, Alex and Nick Rotello; several nieces and nephews and brother-in-law, Al Kent. Predeceased by his parents; wife; brothers, Andrew, Joe, Jay, Nick, Albert, Sam and Tony; sisters, twins Martha and Lillian, Mary, Theresa and Josephine. Funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 3910 N. Rockton Ave., Rockford with the Franciscan Friars officiating. Burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
