Alexander Delong

Alexander Alex C. DeLong III, 62, Rockford, passed away Monday, October 1, 2012, in SwedishAmerican Hospital surrounded by his loving family.nbsp; He was born August 4, 1950, in Rockford, the son of Alexander M. (Lucy N. Adami) DeLong Jr. He was a veteran of the Army serving in Viet Nam.nbsp; Alex worked at National Lock Co. for many years and most recently for Hal McKiski. He was a volunteer firefighter for the New Milford Fire Department for 20 years, enjoyed gardening, painting cars, and tinkering around the house. Alex was an avid NASCAR fan.

Survived by his wife, Barbara Dugan, daughters, Annette DeLong of Rockford, Jennittia (Paul) LaRue of New Hampshire, , Wendi (Greg) Vasquez of Rockford; stepdaughter, Melinda (Scott) Dugan of Rockford ; 13 grandchildren; sisters, Rae (Tom) Vowles of Lake Summerset, Laura (Kirk) Colcord of Rockledge, Florida, Kathleen (Jim) Fisher of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Lucy Ann Hotchkiss of Moline; many nieces and nephews, special friends, Joe and John; and his faithful companion, Nikki.nbsp; Predeceased by his parents.

A memorial gathering will be held from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Wednesday, October 3, 2012, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N.
