Alfred E. "Al" Ashbridge

Alfred E. “Al” Ashbridge Jr., 87, of Rockford, passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2021.

Al was born in Atlantic City, NJ on October 13, 1933, son of Alfred E. Ashbridge Sr. and Agnes Troy. He married Gloria T. Antonietti on May 27, 1961 at Our Lady of the Holy Souls Catholic Church in Philadelphia, PA. Al was employed with several communication companies, including Stromberg Carlson of Rochester, NY, Alcatel and later for Motorola. He was a member of St. Bridget Catholic Church in Loves Park for many years. Al enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed.

Al is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Gloria Ashbridge; 1 daughter, 4 granddaughters, 2 great-granddaughters and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents and 3 sisters.

Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 600 Clifford Ave. Loves Park, IL 61111. Those attending services must wear masks and follow social distancing guidelines. Cremation rites will be accorded following services. Private burial will be at a later date.
