Alice T. Mcneany

Alice T. McNeany, 83, of Rockford passed away Saturday, November 22, 2014 in her home. Born June 11, 1931, in Decorah, Iowa, she was the daughter of John and Mae (Gallagher) Mellick. Alice married James McNeany on June 15, 1957 at St. Patrick’s church in Rockford. She worked as a personal secretary at various tool and die companies. Alice was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and served as a past president of the Holy Family Women’s Guild where she was Woman of the Year in 2009. She was also a member of the Catholic Women’s League. Alice was on the Ethnic Heritage Museum Board and served as a past president of the Rock River Kiwanis. She was a charter member and past president of the Irish Marching Society as well as served in the auxiliary for both the Lombardi and Verdi Clubs. Alice was a driver for cancer patients through the American Cancer Society and also delivered for Meal on Wheels. She was also an avid bowler and golfer. The McNeany Family would like to give a special thank you to their many neighbors and friends for their comfort and kindness, as well as to Heartland Hospice for their compassionate care.
Survived by her husband, James; daughters, Judy (Mike) DelVecchio and Jane (Paul) White; grandchildren, Dustin DelVecchio, Marguerite DelVecchio, Louis DelVecchio, Hannah White, Connor White and Olivia White. Predeceased by her grandson, Dane DelVecchio.
Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Road. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Road. Burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
