Andrew S. Masiewicz

Andrew Szymon Masiewicz, 23, of Rockford, IL passed away on Monday, January 24, 2022.

Andrew was born in Rockford, IL on July 10, 1998, the son of Janusz and Jolanta (Wawiorko) Masiewicz. He graduated from Boylan Catholic High School and later earned his associate degree from Rock Valley College. Andrew was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and also attended St. Rita Catholic Church. He played basketball during grade school at St. Rita and baseball for the Venetian Vipers. Andrew was also very involved in martial arts, he began with Won Jung Martial Arts and later attended the Rockford Academy of Tae Kwon Do where he earned his 2nd degree black belt. He was also a member of Team Haanpaa Martial Arts of Rockford.

He was employed by Woodward Inc. and enjoyed playing video games online with friends. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and loved ones. He will be dearly missed.

Those left to honor Andrew’s memory include his parents, Janusz and Jolanta Masiewicz; brother, Chris (Jennifer) Masiewicz; uncles, Stanislaw Wawiorko, Karol (Krystyna) Sierzputowski and Lucjan Sierzputowski; aunts, Irena Kondracka, Anna Wawiorko, Elzbieta Wawiorko and Malgorzata (Jozef) Klepac; nephew, Masen Masiewicz; special cousin, Eve (Rick) Steder and many cousins. Andrew is predeceased by his sister, Alyssa Masiewicz; maternal grandparents, Elzbieta (Jan) Wawiorko; paternal grandparents, Teresa (Stanislaw) Sierzputowski; uncle, Jerzy Wawiorko.

The family will have a private visitation.

Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at St. Rita Catholic Church, 6254 Valley Knoll Drive Rockford, IL 61109. Final resting place will be in Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery, Rockford, IL. Memorials may be made in Andrew’s name to the Masiewicz family to be established at a later date.
