Angelo S. Babe Saporito, 90, Rockford, died at 6:45 a.m. Wednesday, May 26, 2010 in his home surrounded by his loved ones.nbsp; Born September 26, 1919 in Beloit, WI, son of Luca Louis and Luchina Lucynbsp; Bruscato Saporito. WWII Veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1943-1946. nbsp;Married Josephine Bocanelli on April 13, 1947 in Rockford. nbsp;Employed by the City of Rockford for 34 years. He retired in 1979 as Assistant Superintendant of the Street Department.nbsp; Active member of Holy Family Catholic Church for the past 35 yearsnbsp; where he served as a Sacristan, Euchristic Minister and an Usher. Member of the Knights of Columbus.nbsp; Babe was an example of a kind and compassionate person who reached out to everyone.nbsp; He was completely devoted to his family and his faith.
Survivors include his wife, Josephine; children, Mary Lou Collura, Frisco, TX, Fred J. (Carol Sisson) Saporito, Bend, OR, Joanne (Jerry) Woods, Roscoe, Luke (Holly) Saporito, Lake Oswego, OR and Mark (Martha) Saporito, Garland, TX; grandchildren, Terese (Derek) McSpadden, Jerome (Chris) Collura, Angelise Woods, Matthew, Jeffrey and Erica Saporito, Elizabeth Saporito and step-grandaughter, Lunden Azuara;nbsp; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Christopher and Patrick McSpadden.nbsp; Also survived by his sister, Marie (Sam) Perrecone and brothers, Joseph Saporito and John (Marge) Saporito all of Rockford.nbsp; Predeceased by his parents and grandson, Anthony Woods.
Mass of Celebration at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 1, 2010 in Holy Family Catholic Church with Msgr. Thomas E. Bales officiating.nbsp; Burial in Calvary Cemetery.nbsp; Visitation from 3-6 p.m. on Monday in Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S.
