Ann L. Vecchio Sytek

Ann L. Vecchio Sytek, 95, of Rockford, passed away in her home on Monday, October 3, 2022. Born July 21, 1927, in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Stephen and Rose (Lombardo) Cigretto. She attended West High School and Rockford School of Business. She married George E. Vecchio on November 30, 1946. They enjoyed 34 wonderful years together, working, raising their five children, hosting many family gatherings and potlucks with friends, until George’s death on November 25, 1980. While married Ann attended the School of Cosmetology and owned and operated Silhouette Beauty Salon for over 25 years where many of her clients became life-long friends.

Ann later married Ray Sytek on December 12, 1987. They enjoyed 29 years together with family and friends and spending winters in Florida. Ray passed away on September 20, 2016.

Throughout her life Ann enjoyed golfing, gardening and entertaining but most of all her time spent in the kitchen cooking and baking for her friends and beloved family.

Ann especially treasured the times shared with her children, eleven grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren, who absolutely adored their mom, nana and great-nana.

Ann is survived by her children, James (Patrice) Vecchio of Rockford, IL; Steven (Kathleen) Vecchio of Rockton, IL; Mary Ellen Klement of Oconomowoc, WI; Andrea (John) D’Agnolo of Rockford, IL.

She was predeceased by her two husbands; son, John Vecchio, daughter-in-law, Terry Vecchio; parents; sisters, Rose Cero, Sarah Castree, Jenny Swetland; and brother, Frank Cigretto.

Ann lived in Rockford her entire life where she shared a gift of making everyone she met feel loved. She thoroughly enjoyed her condo years at Wesley Willows, and the family would like to give a special thanks to her “short-street” neighbors - Geanie, Marge, Sue and Jerry - with whom she enjoyed many good times and were always there for her with a helping hand.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 7, 2022, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 3910 N. Rockton Avenue, Rockford, IL, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and will continue at church on Saturday prior to Mass from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2400 Bell Avenue, Rockford, IL. Burial will take place in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
