Anna Partoll

Anna Partoll of Freeport died on Friday, July 20, 2007 at Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center. Born December 23, 1903 in Wassersuppe, Germany, the daughter of Josef and Anna (Hermann) Schmid. Anna was the third oldest child of ten. Married Alfred Partoll in Waldenburg, Germany in 1924. They traveled from Europe, arriving in Chicago in 1930, living there 44 years. In her younger years she was employed as a cook and housemaid for private families and cleaned offices in downtown Chicago. Before her retirement in 1964, she worked as a garment presser for Taben & Picker Dress Co. In 1974 Anna moved to Freeport and resided there until 1992 when she moved to Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center in Rockford. Anna was an excellent cook and seamstress and enjoyed doing so for her family. She also enjoyed reading, needlework and craftwork. Her joy was making special gifts for her family, friends and bazaars at Fairhaven. While living in Freeport, she was very active in the Retried Senior Volunteer Program at Highland College. During her years at Fairhaven, she did volunteer work for the Salvation Army and AWANA Club. Anna left us all a treasure of beautiful gifts and wonderful memories. She was a former member of St. Josephs Catholic Church in Freeport and Holy Family Church in Rockford. The family wishes to especially thank Fairhaven Retirement Center and Health Center nurses and staff for their compassionate and loving care. Loving survivors include her sons, Herbert J. (Mary Louise) of Freeport and Alfred C. (Sharon) of Maplewood, NJ; grandchildren, Dr. Kurt S. (Caroline) Partoll of Plymouth, MN, Dr. Linda (Henry Lin) Partoll of Spokane, WA, Joseph K. Partoll of Castlerock, CO., Kent (Jennifer) Partoll of Milburn, NJ and Kimberly Partoll of Waterford. VA; great grandchildren, Peter and Martin Partoll, Marie, Nicholas and Michael Lin, Savanna and Taylor Partoll. She was preceded in death by her husband on July 22, 1967; brothers Joseph, Kurt and Karl Schmid; sisters, infant sister Johanna, Marie David, Emma Von Bank, Johanna David, Julie Schmid and Rosel Maas. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, July 28, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. Andrew Hougan officiating. Interment will be held in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, Evanston, IL. Visitation Friday, July 27 from 5-7:30 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with a Christian Wake Service to be recited at 7:30. Visitation will continue on Sat. at church from 9-9:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers please make memorials in her name to Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center.
