Anthony "Tony" Frank Brodeski, 91 of Cherry Valley, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2011, at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. Born Feb. 17, 1919 in Rockford the son of Anthony and Mary( Dombrzalski) Brodeski. Married his loving wife, Sabina Kazmierski , in Rockford on July 12, 1941. She preceded him in death in 1987. Tony worked for Barber Colman and for Rockford Clutch. He was in management for 22 years as a shop foreman, retiring in 1980. Tony enjoyed gardening and woodworking, and was a past member of the Men's Garden Club and the Belvidere Moose Lodge. Survivors include his children, Josephine (Wesley) Johnson of Rockford, Raymond (Sharon) Brodeski, of Rockford, and Debra (Bruce) Krandel of Belvidere; 11 grandchildren, Jeff (Martha) Johnson, Craig (Julie) Johnson and Tom (Chris) Johnson, Brent (Sharon) Brodeski , Msgr. Aaron Brodeski, Amy (Todd) Gentz, Peter (Jenny) Brodeski, Emily (Jason) Pope, Jessica Krandel and Jared Krandel; 14 great grandchildren, Sarah, Ethan, and Eli Johnson; Erika, Nicholas, Paige, and Abigail Brodeski ; Madison, Samuel, and Hannah Gentz; Sophia, Amelia, and Oliver Brodeski; brothers and sisters, Edna (Carl) Gustafson, Stella Hawkins on, Edward (Virginia) Brudnowski and Mania Brudnowski ; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his father, mother and step father; his wife, Sabina; granddaughter, Ann Brodeski; great grandson, Zachary Johnson; brother-in-law, Daryl Hawkinson; sisters, Cecelia, Agnes, Janet and Helen and brothers, Walter, Stanley, Benny and Johnny.Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 am, Wednesday, February 16, 2011. at St. Rita Catholic Church, 6284 Valley Knoll Drive, Rockford, IL 61109. Tony's grandson, Monsignor Aaron Brodeski will officiate. Interment in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation on Tuesday, February 15, 2011, from 5:00pm until 8:00 pm at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd, Rockford, IL 61108, with a Christian Wake Service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues on Wednesday, at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of prayer at 10:15 a.m. Share online condolences at www.fitzgeraldfh.com.
