Arlene P. Schofield

Arlene P. Schofield, 92, Rockford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 22, 2015, at SwedishAmerican Hospital. She was born July 4, 1923, in Freeport, the daughter of Herman T. and Emma (Zimmerman) Opel. Arlene was a graduate of Freeport High School. She married Richard S. “Dick” Schofield on August 6, 1943, in Neosho, MO. He passed away in Rockford on March 26, 2014. She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.
Survived by her daughters, Ruth (Barry) Hough of Bradenton, FL, Carol (Richard) Wray of Arlington TX, and Mary (Jerry) Suhr of Rockford; her grandchildren, Jennifer (John) Karlen, Brian Hough, Eric (Melina) Hough, Kristin (Steve) Ramassini, Karin (Jim) Preusse, Jonathan (Christy) Wray, Matt (Holli) Suhr, and Julie Suhr; her 11 great-grandchildren, and her nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband, Dick; her parents; her brother, Arthur Opel; her sisters, Margaret Myers, Wilma Schultz, and Doris Reed.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, November 28, 2015, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 3300 Rural St. Rockford, 61107, (main entrance at 3300 Corbridge Ln) with Reverend Jeff Fricke officiating. Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery. Visitation from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Friday, November 27, 2015, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford, and from 9:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. on Saturday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Honor Flight Chicago, 938 W. Montana St. Chicago, IL 60614, the Rockford Rescue Mission, 715 W.
