DEVOTED FATHER, GRANDFATHER, GREAT-GRANDFATHER, AND UNCLE

Arthur H. Nesbit, 87, of Rockford, died Friday, September 19, 2008, in his home at Wesley Willows. Born July 5, 1921 in Penrose, Colorado, the son of William A. and Edith U. (Henderson) Nesbit. Married Janice A. Sampson in London Mills on February 6, 1946. They were married for over 62 years. Resident of Rockford for the past 2 years having previously lived in Quincy for 56 years.

Arthur did research as a chemist for MoorMans Manufacturing Company for 36 years, retiring in 1985. He was in the U.S. Air Corps during WWII. Member of the First Presbyterian Church in Quincy for over 50 years. Golf was his passion. The highlight of Arthurs golfing career was getting a certified hole-in-one at Westview Golf Course at the age of 80. He founded the Cub Scout Pack and Boy Scout Troop at Dewey Elementary School in Quincy. He and his wife were lifelong St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fans and avid card players. Family was most important to Arthur.

Survivors include his children, John A. Nesbit, Roger W. (Lynne) Nesbit, and Sharon L. (George) Nesbit-Davis; 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 3 nieces; 2 nephews; and numerous great nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, brother, Mack (Catherine) Nesbit, grandson, Bryn Nesbit, and most recently on August 24, 2008, his wife and best friend, Janice Nesbit.

Funeral Service at 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2008, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery.
