Astrid Alice Stavlund

Astrid Alice L. (Lofdahl) Stavlund, 97, Rockford, went home to be with her Lord on December 16, 2011, at 7:00 am in Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center. Born August 1, 1914, in Frankfort, Kansas, the daughter of Vilander and Hanna (Carlson) Lofdahl. Astrid married Arnold Stavlund on April 24, 1938, at Swedish Covenant Church at Axtell, Kansas. They moved to Rockford in 1955, to continue farming. She was an accomplished pianist, an excellent cook, and served as head cook at Fairhaven Christian Retirement Home for many years. Astrid was known for her Swedish Smorgasbords, pies, and breads. She was a member of First Evangelical Free Church, serving in many capacities. Her love for the Lord and love of music were passed down to her children. She had a servant'¢s heart and was devoted to her family. A very special thank you to the staff at Fairhaven Christian Retirement Home for their loving and compassionate care. Survived by her daughter, Levon Kline of South Beloit; her son Kenneth (Cheri) Stavlund of Sun City, Arizona; 10 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and 4 greatgreat grandchildren. Predeceased by her husband, Arnold, in 1999; 2 sisters; 1 brother; and soninlaw, John Kline.Memorial service will be at 12:30 pm, Tuesday, December20, 2011, at First Evangelical Free Church, 2223 N. Mulford Rd with Astrid'¢s grandson, Army Chaplain Nick Stavlund officiating. Visitation from 11:30 am until time of service at the church.
