Austin T. Tobias, 32, of Rockford, IL passed away Saturday, February 12, 2022. He was born April 19, 1989 in Rockford, IL the son of Phyllis (Prostko) and John N. Tobias, Jr. Austin attended Boylan Catholic High School and graduated in 2007. While attending Boylan he was an active member in concert and jazz band, proficient in playing trumpet and saxophone. He went on to obtain his Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management/Information Systems from Northern Illinois University. Austin worked for Quest Global in supply chain procurement for the Aerospace/Defense Industry. Austin was a quiet, reserved man who enjoyed playing his guitars. He spent hours practicing and refining his guitar skills endeavoring to duplicate the skill set of renowned artists such as Paul Gilbert. He also enjoyed hockey and was a Rockford Icemen hockey state champion and a national roller hockey champion, both of which he was very proud of. Austin will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Left to cherish Austin’s memory are his parents, Phyllis and John N. Tobias, Jr.; brothers, John N. (Michelle) Tobias III and Adam Tobias; Aunts, Jean (Steve) O’Brien and Florence Prostko (Jim Verstraete); Uncles, Walt (Debbie) Prostko and Joe Gaytan; Cousins, Janet (Dan) Star, Sharon (Adam) Kuncl, Amanda (Sam) Schwartz, and his Golden Retriever, Jari. Preceded in death by his grandparents, Iyla and John N. Tobias, Sr. and Lucille and Walter Prostko; Aunt, Helen Prostko, and his beloved Golden Retriever, Mr. Beau Jangles.
Private services will be held. Cremation rites entrusted with Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Austin’s name to Pucks for Autism, sedolfoundation.org.
