Avery N. Vaughn

Avery N. Vaughn, 81, passed away on October 27, 2021 in Rockford, Illinois. Born on May 21, 1940 in Mosheim, Tennessee son to John W. and Elizabeth R (Harris) Vaughn. Not long after he was born they moved to Illinois. A 1958 graduate of Pecatonica High School, Avery went on to serve in the U.S. Marine Corp. On August 21, 1965 Avery married the love of his life, Karen Ruesch in Janesville, Wisconsin. He worked at Sundstrand Corporation for 39 years until retirement in 2001. Avery was a proud member of St. Edward Catholic Church, and often spent time helping with their Bingo Group. He was also a proud Knight of Columbus 470, P.F.N & H.G 8th period, Fourth Degree 190. In his free time Avery also enjoyed spending time outdoors doing things like golfing, fishing and hunting.

He will be survived by those who loved him most, his wife of 56 years, Karen; his daughter Holly Posch; his grandchildren Aubrey (Patrick Scott) Posch, Ambre (Corey) Martin, Alyssa Posch, and Jacob (Olivia Woodard) Posch; his great grandchildren Kylie, Lilly, Averie, Avery, and Emma; his sister-in-law Patricia Vaughn and brother-in-law Stan (Mary Ellen) Ruesch; he will also be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents; his sister Lowanda (Bob) Last and his brother John E. Vaughn.

A visitation will take place on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, Illinois 61103. Funeral Mass will take place the following day, Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Edward’s Catholic Church, 3004 11th Street, Rockford, Illinois 61109 with burial immediately following at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Winnebago, Illinois.
