Barbara Sherman

Barbara L. Sherman, 90, of Rockford, passed away February 12, 2022 at Cherry Vale Place. Born September 23, 1931 in Rockford, the daughter of Walter & Alice (Johnson) Larson. She graduated from Rockford East High School, class of 1949. Barbara married Gordon Sherman September 28, 1957. Both Barb and Gordy bred and raised black labs. After working for the Rockford School District, as a secretary, for 21 years Barbara retired in 1991. She enjoyed reading, trips to their lake home in Wisconsin, riding around on their Gator, her “Breakfast Friends” at the Cherry Valley Café, enjoying time with her “North Woods” friends, but most of all spending time with her family. Those who knew Barbara would say she always put others first before herself.
Survivors include children Rick Sherman and Kathy (Ron) Schoenrock; grandchildren Katie West, Mary and Matthew Sherman, Chris (Jojo Genden) Olson, Megan (Dan Ligue) Olson and Ben (Jessica) Westerman; several great grandchildren; siblings Andy (Faye) Larson and Bernice Schafer. Predeceased by parents, son, Doug Sherman and sister, Betty Emery.
