Bartolo Macias

Bartolo “Bob” Macias 81 of Rockford passed away Thursday October 23, 2014 in Alden-Park Strathmoor. He was born September 4, 1933 in San Martin De Bolanos, Jalisco, Mexico, the son of Domitilo and Concepcion Macias Arellano. He married Maria Luisa on May 11, 1967 in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. She predeceased him on May 28, 2012. Bartolo worked for Barber Coleman and then later Reed Chatwood as a machinest for many years. Member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Pan American Golf Association, Knights of Columbus, YMCA and the Eagles Club. He was an avid athlete, excelling in golf, bowling, handball, squash, racquetball, archery and scuba diving. One of his proudest accomplishments was when he had a hole in one, on number 7 at Atwood on 10/2/2013.
Survivors include his two daughters, Martha and Sean Kurtz and Laura and Gil Pena. Grandchildren, Cruz and Benjamin Pena. Step granddaughters, Evelyn and Ashlyn Kurtz and many nieces and nephews. Brother, Roberto (Delores) Macias and Sister, Adelina Macias. Predeceased by his parents. Wife, Maria Luisa. Sister, Luzmila Macias and Brother Salvador Macias.
Funeral Mass at 10am Tuesday October 28, 2014 in Holy Family Catholic Church. Visitation from 5pm until 7pm Monday October 27 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home 1860 S. Mulford Road. Visitation also from 9am until 9:45 Tuesday in the church.
