Machesney Park-Betty A. Cunningham, 79, died Monday, August 24, 2009 at Kindred Hospital in Sycamore. Born October 31, 1929 in Freeport, daughter of Arthur and Anna (MacDonald) Noe. 1947 graduate of Bishop Muldoon High School and a 1951 graduate of St. Francis Nursing School. Married her loving husband, Stanley Cunningham in 1952. Betty worked as a Registered Nurse for Rockford Hospital, Visiting Nurses Association, Home Health Care, Lawson Childrens Home, PA Peterson (night nurse) and her last 18 years of her career were proudly spent at Brightside Adult Daycare from which she retired in 2007. Her true calling in this world was to care for others. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Stanley; children, Douglas (Holly) Cunningham, Dodie (Mark) Degener, Daniel Cunningham, Dianna (Jeff) Limberg; grandchildren, Andrew (Alicen) and Shannon Cunningham, Lucy Degener, Jason and Katie Limberg; great grandchildren, Tyler and Cain Cunningham. Preceded in death by her parents, son, David in 1994 and sister Barbara Noe.
Funeral Mass Friday, August 28, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 600 Clifford Ave. Loves Park, with Father Burt Absalon officiating. Interment in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation Thursday, August 27 from 5 -7 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Riverside chapel 3910 N. Rockton Ave with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. Visitation continues on Friday at church from 9-9:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorials to the family for a fund to be established at a later date.
