Betty C. Powers

Betty C. Powers, 87, of Rockford passed away on October 8, 2008 in Bickford House. Born October 6, 1921 in Rockford, the daughter of Roy H. and Golda (Peterson) Stokley. Betty married Donald Abbott in Rockford on February 13, 1947. He predeceased her on February 8, 1972. Betty was a member of Bethesda Covenant Church and the Daughters of the Nile. She was a collector of Santa Clauses, candles and loved traveling.   Betty is survived by her brother Donald Stokley, niece Nancy Naidu, nephew Steven (Eileen) Stokley. Great nephews Nathan Naidu, Carl Stokley. Great niece Laura Stokley and high school friends Barbara Chapman and Karen Lang. She is predeceased by her parents and husband. A very special thank you to the staff at Bickford House and Northern Illinois Hospice & Grief Center for their special care.   Funeral Service will be Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service in the funeral home. Interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
