Beynon ""Ben"" J. Marske, 87, of Rockford, IL died on December 3, 2007 in Asta Care Center of Rockford. Ben was born December 22, 1919 in Capron, IL the son of Ernest and Clara (Landin) Marske. Ben married Betty Kennedy on February 26, 1949. Ben was a US Army Veteran of World War II having served in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe and received four Bronze Battle Stars and the European African Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon. Ben had worked as a machinist for Ekstrom Carlson and Goss Printing until retiring in 1984. He was a member Lincolnwood Baptist Church, Rockford VFW Ross-Pearson Post 5149 and loved dancing, gardening and spending time with his family. Ben is survived by his three daughters, Diane (Jim) Bell, Barb Moreau and Nancy Dean of LaGrange, GA; his grandchildren, Jim Bell (Fiance Christy Labertew), Kristine (Mark) Kohlhorst, Tracy Weber (Fiance Ryan McCune), Darcy (Art) Davis, Gene Lee, Jr. and Kim Perkins; his great-grandchildren, Hannah, Charles, Justice, James, Jaylen and Jacob; his brother, Ken Marske; his former wife and special friend, Betty Olson, his former son-in-law and friend Andre Moreau and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Ben was preceded in death by his parents, his second wife, Margaret Boyd; his special companion, Charmaine Lamphier; his brothers, Clayton, John, Nucome and Raymond; his sisters, Nina Finch, Muriel Putnam and Evelyn Parker and his son-in-law Randy Dean. A special thanks to all the staff at Highview in the Woodlands Assisted Living and Asta Care Center of Rockford. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2007 at 10 AM at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. with Rev. Herman Brown, Pastor of Lincolnwood Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Capron Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 6 8 PM and on Thursday from 9 AM until time of service.
