Bonnie Kate Wagenknecht

Bonnie "Kate" Wagenknecht, 72 of Rockford, passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2014. She was born on June 5, 1941 the daughter of Joseph and Myrtle Tharp. She married Leo Wagenknecht on April 16, 1960. Katie was sweet, loving, caring, kind and generous to her family and everyone she knew. She was an avid flower and vegetable gardener, an avid reader as well as an excellent cook. As a loving grandmother and great-grandmother, she always put her family and the people she loved above herself. She is survived by her husband Leo of 54 years; daughters, Kim (Ray) DeAnda, Pam Smith; 3 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; 3 brothers and 5 sisters. Preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Janie Hollingsworth.
Funeral service Thursday, May 8, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with Apostle Don Lyon of Faith Center officiating. Visitation Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.. In lieu of flowers memorials in her name to the Swedish American Regional Cancer Center, 3535 N. Bell School Road
