Brian L. Wahl

Brian L. Wahl, 60, Rockford, passed away Sunday, November 7, 2010, in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. He was born January 21, 1950, in Rockford, the son of John J. and Margaret (Hickey) Wahl. Brian married Theresa Sanches in Rockford, on June 19, 1971. He worked for Hamilton-Sundstrand for over 30 years and most recently for the Rockford School District. He was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, the St. Ambrosia Society, and was an avid Notre Dame fan. Brian loved nature and always showed great respect and appreciation for his surroundings. He spent many wonderful summers with his family and friends in the northwoods on Spider Lake in Hayward, WI. Brian always supported his children and grandchildren in whatever they were doing and enjoyed watching his nephew, T.J. play sports. Survived by his loving wife, Theresa; daughter, Melissa (Jason) Rager of Winnebago, son, Brian (Jen) Wahl of South Beloit; grandchildren, Lauren Rager, Elaina Rager, and Jack Wahl; mother, Margaret Wahl; aunt, Vivian Hickey; brother-in-law, Ron Sanches; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bob and Carol Sanches, Dave and Sue Sanches, and Dee and Tom Baker; nieces and nephews, Lisa, Christina, Nicole, Angela, Bob, Jr. (Shelly), Jeff, Nick, and T.J.; numerous cousins; and lifelong friends, Steve ( Linda) Graceffa. Predeceased by his father, John; niece, Danielle Sanches and uncle, Fran Hickey.Funeral Mass will be 10:00am, Thursday, November 11, 2010, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2400 Bell Ave., Rockford, IL 61103. Burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation from 4:00pm until 7:00pm Wednesday, November 10, 2010, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd.
