Calvin R. Court

September 30, 1932 — June 1, 2023

Calvin “Cal” R. Court, 90, Rockford, passed into the presence of the Lord peacefully, on Thursday, June 1, 2023 in Serenity Hospice and Home, Oregon. Born September 30, 1932 in Belvidere, son of Martin and Dorothy H. Meyer Court. Graduated from Belvidere High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Married Elisabeth Holm in 1956 and she died June 19, 1996. He then married Barbara Whiteaker on May 27, 2000. Employed for many years by Quast & Co. as an International Custom House Broker. Member of Maywood Evangelical Free Church where he sang in the choir and participated in Men’s Bible Study, prayer groups and he and Barb were part of a Small Group. They belonged to the Toppers Club for many years and were also a part of the Gim Mays Sunday Schools class. He was also a member of Gideon’s International. He had a great laugh, enjoyed people and being in the center of activities around him. Cal was a very intelligent man who spoke multiple languages and taught his children to do the same. He loved traveling and did a lot of international travel. Music was a very integral part of his life. He was an opera trained bass vocalist, played guitar and harmonica, was an expert yodeler, and was a very good dancer and ice dancer. He loved to play golf, rollerblade and was an excellent domino and skip-bo player.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara; daughters, Desiree (Tony) Manion and Annemarie (Rafal) Omilian; grandchildren, Emilie Giardina, Sonja Giardina, Izabela Omilian and Gabriel Omilian; step-sons, Nick (Gloria) Giardina and Terry Giardina, step-granddaghter, Michelle (Tim) Jenkins and their children, Haylie and Harper. He also always maintained a close relationship with Elisabeth’s family. Predeceased by his parents, brothers, Wendell and Bill and his sister, Ramona.

A funeral service will be held at noon on Friday, June 9, 2023 in Maywood Evangelical Free Church. Military burial in Willwood Burial Park. Visitation from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service at the church. The family was assisted by Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd.
