Carl Jacob Steigerwald

Carl Jacob Steigerwald (52) of Eagle, WI, peacefully slipped from his wifes loving arms and was called to Heaven on February 4, 2012 after a courageous battle with a prolonged illness. Carl was born on June 18, 1959 in Chicago, IL, the son of Jacob and Marie Steigerwald.

He was a graduate of Winona State University, MN.

Carls occupational achievements included a position as VP of Lending at Amcore Bank and subsequent financial services at Merrill Lynch, Wachovia, and H amp; R Block Financial Advisors, which was acquired by Ameriprise, where Carl became Branch Manager in both Madison and Brookfield WI.

He was happily married for 16 years to Marzena (Slusarska) Steigerwald. Carl and his wife Marzena have been members of St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church in Rockford, IL. He had a great love of music, playing golf, and an endearing sense of humor. He enjoyed travelling to beautiful warm places with warm water and palm trees, especially Hawaii. During an enjoyable trip to Italy last June he was blessed by pope Benedict XVI. Carl was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his wife Marzena, parents Dr. Jacob and Marie Steigerwald of Littleton, CO, brother Rick (Dane), with nephews Nicholas and Matthew Steigerwald of Lakewood, CO, motherinlaw Irena Slusarska of Belvidere .

Carl was blessed with a special relationship with Uncle Tony and Aunt Martha Steigerwald, and his cousins Kristine and Lisa of WI. He will also be greatly missed by his aunts, uncles, and cousins across the United States, three brothersinlaw: Adam (Lucyna), Bogdan (Bozena), and Jurek (Aneta) Slusarki, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins in Europe. He was always close to his coworkers and friends. Carl was predeceased by his sister Ellen Steigerwald and grandparents.

Visitations at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 1860 South Mulford Road, Rockford, Il, 61108, will be held on Friday, February 10, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, with rosary at 8:00 PM. Additional visitation will take place from 10:00 until 10:45 AM before the Funeral Mass, officiated by Father Peter Sarnicki,at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 11, 2012 in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, 201 Buckbee Street, Rockford, IL 61104. A private family burial will take place in Winona, MN.

A memorial fund in Carls name is being established in lieu of flowers.
